Golden Riviera poker
Being part of the microgaming prima poker network, there are often hundreds of players in the poker room, and finding a game is no problem. What's really nice is that,
although the Hold'em tables are crowded, Hold'em is not the only game in the house that draws players.
Besides dealing Hold'em and Omaha, the Golden Riviera has tables dealing stud poker as well. And, there are players playing at the stud poker tables (both 5 and 7 card).
Golden Riviera has some interesting features at their poker room. For example, you can be seated at two different games at the same time, and simply toggle back and
forth between them. For me, the gameplay is fast enough that one game at a time will suffice. But, for the power poker player, this allows them to get in the most hands
per hour and get the most possible out of their time spent at the tables.
There is also an extensive statistics display that you can toggle on and off. At a glance you can clearly see the percentage of hands you've won, showdowns you've won,
and flops you've seen. You can also see how often you fold/check/bet/raise. The information you find here can certainly help you analyse your gameplay.
The poker room also has a new player bonus in place. A generous $30 in free chips with a $30 first purchase buy-in. I don't play at poker rooms for bonus money, but because
$30 is such a reasonable buy-in, I thought their bonus deserves mentioning. One note on the bonus, it is not automatically deposited into your account. Once you make your
deposit, be sure to email support. They will then manually add the money to your account.
The Golden Riviera has a daily high hand competition on the Hold'em tables. There is also a Bad Beat Jackpot to be won should you draw an awesome hand, say four kings,
and lose. Winning the Bad Beat jackpot can take some of the sting away when that happens.
They also offer a French version of their website, although English remains the language at the tables.
Welcome Bonus: Up to $50 bonus.
Promotions: Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot
If Four of a Kind or better is beaten, the loser of the hand receives 50% of the progressive bad beat jackpot, the winner gets 25%, and the remaining 25% is split among the
other players in the hand. You can't lose!
High Hand of the Day!
Each day, the person with the highest Hold'em hand played wins an extra bundle of cash.
Magic Hand!
Each hand dealt at Prima Poker is assigned a number. From time to time Prima Poker management picks a hand number at random in advance and declares it a Magic Hand and
establishes what the prizes will be. When that magic hand is dealt, the winner of the hand wins the main prize and all other players in the game each get a second bonus amount.

Pacific Poker
Pacific poker offers various promotions and bonuses to keep you in the game and will often "drop" a few free dollars into your accont to make sure that you don't give up hope.
A great feature is the points accumulation credits. For each hand you play, you receive points which then can be traded in for free cash. This means that the more you play, the
longer you get to play. For statistic freaks, they have the perfect system just for you. Their hand history allows you to watch a replay of every single hand you have ever played.
Now they offer No Download play, which is a big breakthrough. Up until recently only the PokerRoom.com had been offering no download games. The no download games let you
do a lot of different things because it lets you play from any computer. It also lets new players try the games without committing to a software download (which is a bother for
people on dial-up connections).
They've also added tournament play to the poker room. BIG improvement. Now you can find Sit & Go tournament action along with Multi-Table tournaments. This was something
Pacific Poker needed to do to make players happy, and they did it.
Pacific Poker has also managed to bring in a lot of poker players to their network. Currently, and this is certainly subject to change, there are several thousand players playing.
That means there is a good chance you can find a game. For the moment at least, their website shows a count of players playing each of the games, so before you download
the software you'll know what kind of action to expect inside the room. Nice touch.
Also, Pacific Poker is the poker arm of Casino On Net. That means several things. Number one is that the customer service team is experienced. You can get in touch with them 24/7,
and they'll be able to answer your questions. Of course it also means that the company is well-established, and that your deposits are safe and cash-outs should be hassle-free.
For the download player (most of us) the Pacific Poker website states: "The average download time is 7-10 minutes, using a standard 56KBS Modem. The actual file size is about 3MB."
I have a cable-modem, so I can't say for sure how long of a download it is for dial-up users, but 7-10 minutes sounds like a reasonable time.
Overall, Pacific Poker was a friendly place that did have some improvements to make in order to keep pace with the leading poker rooms. Over the last year they made those
improvements, and more.

Fair Poker
So, the first Playtech poker room has hit our site and we are very excited about this software. It is brand spanking new and the graphics are excellent.
How will Playtech be able to compete against the already established networks, you ask? Well - remember how the casino software took the industry by storm and many did not believe
that they would be able to get a foot in either. I don't think that it will take all that long to become one of the big networks around.
Naturally, since it is so new, there are not many players yet.. So, don't expect to go over there, sign up and immediately get into some hot poker action - BUT, we would really suggest that
you sign up as soon as possible anyway and get a feel for the software. There are so many new features which will make you play a real pleasure and the advantage of signing up now
and practicing is that when the big tournaments start, you will not be wasting time testing out all the gimmicks and be able to concentrate purely on your game.
